  3. Congrats, Cambodia. I'm sure this will end well. In scrappy Cambodian casino town, Chinese plan future beyond coronavirus SIHANOUKVILLE, Cambodia (Reuters) - When casino owner Kang Qiang looks out the window of his 20th floor office in this city on the remote Cambodian coast, he sees construction cranes sitting idle. The Chinese-funded gambling enclave of Sihanoukville has suffered a double blow. Travel restrictions imposed in recent weeks to slow the global coronavirus pandemic have deepened the effects of a ban last year on lucrative online gambling. But Kang is betting on a future beyond the pandemic, banking on the return of money from China to finish transforming the scrappy frontier town into a gleaming metropolis. In a sign of his confidence, Kang's casino has installed gold urinals. "China speed", exclaims Gavin Gao, a gleeful young Chinese tech entrepreneur from Chengdu who has chosen to stick things out. "Sihanoukville is going at China speed ... Here is China 2.0!" Cambodians have mixed feelings about the Chinese. Their arrival brought money and jobs - and now their sudden absence is causing problems. The expatriates' confidence is buoyed by China's apparent success in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. As cases skyrocket elsewhere in the world, zero local transmissions have been reported on some days in China, where the virus originated. "They got it under control," says Bob Zhao, an earnest 28-year-old from Shandong who came to Sihanoukville seeking his fortune and found it as a sales consultant for a Chinese property developer. https://www.yahoo.com/news/scrappy-cambodian-casino-town-chinese-232757192.html

  4. I am no fan of the Chinese government. It’s essentially totalitarian. Right-wing Trumpsters and other misguided nationalist meatheads are gleefully seizing this opportunity to consume and regurgitate the misguided and misinformed reactionary nonsense coming from the US and continental alt-right media machine/industry.. This is unfortunate but hardly surprising, coming from those who seek their news and information from sources which confirm their biases and prejudices. Speaking of China, I have done some international teaching in the not too distant past and I am still a member of several international teaching job sites. I have received several dozen emails over the past few weeks from schools in China desperate to fill vacancies In China. Thanks but no thanks.

  5. er QG...so in these dark doom-laden days... 'essential' doesn't include going to 7-11 to buy food? where mayhaps the said 7-11 is actually next door? and just happen to have one electric kettle for sale on their shelves? hardly travelling out of district heh? glad to note that the 8000 thai's in morchit bus station one day last week were heeding the governors advice. one also assumes that cleaning stuff will magically appear in the tin shacks all over Chonburi., as people cannot go out to buy it, not that they would anyway. My condo is cleaned every day by me.. Only yesterday 4 bottles of bleach were washed over all floor and wall surfaces in the bathroom... great smell! but you misunderstand...before anyone decides to sue me..i did actually suggest it's not a good idea to cook stews in an electric kettle. you're just jealous because i've now mastered another technological mystery...both kettles and lift buttons i'm pretty good at now.... i thought that you'd be proud of me. not to worry...just to impress you... i was also told in the said 7-11 that from today anyone not wearing a dodgy totally useless face mask will not be served. that's an easy equation then. No mask =no serve = no go. have stocked up on essentials don't worry... loads of ciggies! what ya gonna do if some scientist discover's that nicotine kills corona!!!

  6. #1) The Admin Control Panel for the Ladyboy Review Forum permits me and BB to login as a Member (this is not a direct link to someone's PMs, though once logged in as a member one could read PMs). I have used this feature when some members had technical difficulties with their account to help determine if the tech problem was on the LBR/Invision end or rather something to do with that member's computer/phone. #2) I've never even heard of the $7.99 software add on before you posted about this. We don't have/use it and will never have/use it. Btw, the Invision Community Forum has some interesting info especially if you enjoy tech. One thing some of you might like is the new Invision Phone App. They have a Beta version that can be downloaded from the Play Store or App Store. You can use one of Rom's links and poke around from there. Do the LBR admins read other people's PMs? I have never, ever, not even once, read someone else's PMs. Neither has BB. I view this as a breach of trust besides being downright creepy.

  7. I'm out walking most nights around 2AM and Pattaya feels like a Ghost Town (don't use that phrase around Thais). It is downright eerie to see nobody walking around except me. I encounter mostly motobike guys waiting for fares and just a handful Thais sitting with other Thais in their establishments. So I was quite surprised when walking around Soi Buakhao late afternoon yesterday that things seemed kind of normal, a stark contrast to night time. We will see if thing change if the restaurant ban (takeout only) takes effect in Pattaya. If so, this might induce some restaurants to close completely which would benefit those that operate takeaway carts.

  9. a lot of the food carts have vanished in jomtien. For years, all day and evening there were four in situ every day in my local 7-11 car park. chicken, fried banana , fruit some sort of thai food ...... all but one now gone. some still doing the motorbike food cart thing in Jomty...but not many... even the thai customers have gone. There was a time until recently that riding down beach rd in the evenings was like a food cart obstacle course. not any more. the only traffic is the police checking the beach.

  12. In case anyone missed it - latest an Alcohol Carry Outs - No alcohol sales between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. In reality, as regular alcohol sales laws apply, this means one can only legally buy between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM as well as 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

  13. The Sihanoukville story is such a sad one. Snooky will never be the same again. I'm so glad I spent a good amount of time there between 8 and 10 years ago, before greed and corruption took their toll. So many problems around the world. One country name always seems to be in the thick of it.

  15. I agree, but the one that I met who had it done is a really great girl. Made up for the changes she had done. Still not the same though. Will not change my mode of choice. Mind you some gg's have pussies that should be operated on. Quite often look like Jurasic Park or a scene at the local fish market!.

  16. P Is For Pandemic (And Populist Rage) (More like Plandemic) Also, “A violent psychopath tells you there is an "invisible enemy" that's going to kill you and your family and the only way to fight it is to give that psychopath absolute control over your life. And you do it without question. That's why violent psychopaths will always rise to power, à la the "War on Terror", "War on Drugs", the new "War on Pandemics", because you know we have to be on "War Footing"! and it is always...the War On Us.” https://www.zerohedge.com/personal-finance/p-pandemic-and-populist-rage

  24. where did my new hairstyle come from? !!! and...don't talk to me about that gel alcohol hand stuff. i saw some going free in 7-11 a few days ago, i.e a free dab on the counter. So heeding QGs dire warnings about the end of the human race if you don't use the stuff... i gave it a go. Not realising that it was 70% alcohol. i'm allergic to alcohol, can't even use an alcohol based deodorant. ... So at the moment my hands look as though they have been dipped in boiling water. thanks QG!

  27. well that's a surprise then QG..... a member of a welsh anti-smoking group suggesting that smokers quit?.... surprise surprise! maybe i will then.. obviously after 55 years of puffing away quite happily as soon as i do my lungs will suddenly morph into those of Sebastian Coe.... you've not posted the rather wonderful newspaper report from last week yet... the one where some bangkok big wig stated with absolutely no commonsense whatsoever that smoking was to be banned anywhere even outside in Bangkok.. transgressors to be fined 4000 baht. His reason that exhaling smoke can also expel Corona Virus. He was soon shut-up when people explained that he would have to stop people breathing too! stop believing every thing you read QG please! some people just want to see their name in the papers..... If it's on the net or in the newspapers, like the things that you read in the bible...it ain't necessarily so... but just to inform, my nephew in England - i'm guessing in his early-mid 50s, who has been a severe asthmatic all his life, has just recovered from CV... you see then QG...not all reports have to be doom and gloom to back up personal prejudices my boy...

  32. ah..of course..tinned stuff, i wasn't thinking.... don't actually like it too much. i remember the happy days in Piccadilly in an Irish bar which sold the draught stuff...you even used to get a shamrock or something drawn in the froth. i suppose it closed down 40 years ago!

  37. Good to hear you have been doing a lot of thinking bbg! But I'm not sure that going out to buy an electric kettle, however useful for making stews, is an essential trip. 38. I've been off the forum today as i had a lot of thinking about this Corona stuff to do. it does seem that some of you guys are quite worried, so i wondered if i could come up with some suggestions that may help allay those fears. i remembered that a very famous person [i forget who] once said that every problem is also an opportunity. So, taking advantage of the time which i now have on my hands i decided to try to overcome my natural technophobia. I know that Quietguy at least is going to be impressed by this. I can actually hear him saying to himself... 'so Blind Boy...what did you do? Thanks for asking QG...i'll tell you. I walked down the road a ways and bought myself an electric kettle. I was quaking all the way back home carrying it, wondering what the hell i'd done. Scared that my impetuous action would lead to a nervous breakdown or something Like. With mounting dread i finally worked out how to get the devilish thing out of the box. But no fear guy's.. i am proud to say that within ten minutes i mastered the mother. i guess Einstein must have felt the same when he finished his Theory of Relativity. Technology or at the minimum electric kettles, now hold no fears for me! i've cracked it, life is so good now. tell you what else i discovered..using the gravy granules things... ya can make gravy in it too! I would suggest though that no-one puts the rest of the stew in the kettle as the big bits tend to block the spout. so, what about some of you peeps? all locked down with little to do? Well BB, i know that you are worrying about the waistline recently...plenty of time for sit-ups now! get on with it.... Pdogg... did i read recently that you are going a bit Michael Jacksonish? easy-peasy.. practice the Moonwalk, it'll go down great at future parties. QG.... practice getting your HazMat suit on quicker, just in case at some future date you see the postman walking up your garden path. every little helps guys, every little helps.

  39. I did mean to post this little story last week when I witnessed it. At the Seaside restaurant I was sitting eating my food when this English guy , his Thai lady friend and his soon to be stepson sat down opposite me and the English guy immediately started trying to teach the boy English table manners, how to hold the utensils and the like ( All the usual niceties) . What I couldn't understand was the guy was doing all this while sitting in a public restaurant with no shirt or shoes on .... there should be a dress code in place . Stay safe guys . SP.
