  1. Good questions but you forgot the most critical question. Why do all 20/30/40b street stalls insist on using the 'Uri Geller' line of stainless steel cutlery and does it force you to take your own with you?

  2. saab1, I have done this in the days I was single. So some advice before you go about this. Not all the cabaret showgirls are available p4p. Don't expect to go up and ask one is it ok 500 Baht for short time, and get a yes, in fact you could get a rude reply, if she isn't in the p4p scene. The recommended method is to go out for the photo sessions in between the shows. They generally send out the best looking lbs to earn extra money for the show. Tourists will pay lbs to pose with them, minimum is 100 Baht for foreigners. If you see an lb you are interested in, get your photo taken with her, and pass your mobile number to her with the tip. If she is interested in p4p, she will call you after the last show is done. The tips are pooled and shared with all the cabaret staff, except for the last show, where the lb can keep those tips for herself. Also it is unlikely a p4p cabaret showgirl will agree to the same prices as a bargirl lb. You will have to pay more and likely will take her out for dinner/movie - and she may ask you to pay for her friends too. If you're on a budget, be firm and say only her. They have long hours as well, since they must rehearse for new cabarets either late, after the last show, or early before the first show starts. As for which one is best - both Tiffany and Alcazar have beautlful lbs you should check out both. There's another large cabaret open now on Thepprasit Road called the Coliseum Show - but it doesn't have as many performers as Tiffany or Alcazar yet.

  3. When In Pattaya I often don't even go out to dinner until 9 PM. Midnight would be a drag. If I already had a trip paid for I would probably go and adjust my schedule. But it would be different. Maybe a lot less bad hangovers.

  5. My hometown! I always drive, so these photos are new to me. The subway public transportation. It looks fancy and it should be since we are almost taxed to death. Only Denmark has overall higher taxes.

  6. I think Sustra, you have indirectly answered BB's question. LB's and the associated bars may not be a niche market in terms of their popularity, but the whole concept is still pretty unique, so could be considered niche??? Therefore, outside of the regular LB patrons and regulars, such as the guys on the various for a and many others who frequent the bars but do not post on any forums, the LB world is viewed by many as "that dirty little secret" or the something satisfyingly perverted that a lot of guys will look at least once on their vacation, and could possibly allow these bars that extra bit of custom which any old GG bar simply can not offer. BB, perhaps a subject for another topic my friend. Is our wonderfully dirty little world still a niche market??

  8. Steady on there Sustra - you will have half of the residents of Soi Bukhaeu trying that trick just to save a few baht on the electric bill every month. Even more so now, as with the curfew, many have lost the free light from various 7/11's and Family marts which conveniently lit up their rooms when they kept the curtains open in the evening.

  9. The definition of 'flash of genius' fits perfectly in the 'liter of light', started by a Brazilian mechanic Alfredo Moser, perfected by engineers at MIT in Boston and now spreading rapidly in slums and shanty towns around the world, wherever there are houses huddled together and without electricity. The idea is simple..... and it only takes one common plastic bottle filled with water, a bit 'of bleach and a hole in the roof. The bottle is placed in the roof, and can reflect the light of the sun to the point of creating inside the house, if properly installed, the same light as a 60 watt light bulb. Thanks to the foundation MyShelter the idea is spreading around the world, from Bangladesh to Tanzania.

  10. I can easily do a trip in Pattaya without setting foot in a bar. The bars could shut at midday for all I care.

  12. Loco is a very well run, customer friendly bar. The owner who is a helluva nice makes it clear to the girls to never ask for a ladyboy drink. He places good music too. The girls are pretty and friendly. Our crew had a great time there last night. One of us asked one of the GGs about ladyboys and she told him Coco had left already. But she called up the ladyboy from Pretty Woman to come over. Loco is the exact opposite of Candy Bar. Candy Bar's philosophy is to put on a full court press to get barangs to spend money while the Loco philosophy is to provide a friendly chill environment so customers keep coming back. Only downside is that only 1 ladyboy works there but we found a way to make it work for us even though Coco (the ladyboy) wasn't there.

  13. Good news!Mouth Moy Bar almost has it's own toilet now! A shop directly opposite has opened up as a ฿5 ablution facility plenty of toilets and even a few showers....... Only problem is that Mouth Moy have lost space they used to hijack late at night by setting up tables and chairs there......would make sense to let them still do this as we all know once the seal is broken it's a never ending procession to the bathroom specially on those big Leo's which I think are ฿80 now.

  17. If you think about it this situation is pretty unique . Anywhere else in the world a military coup would only come about when the existing system had totally broken down . The most recent example that springs to mind is Egypt and that was on the back of a fully fledged revolution . I was amazed at the situation in Pattaya when this charade was announced , I did not see one soldier and very few police yet everyone just complied meekly , the main fear was being fined by police for keeping businesses open . If this was my country people would be rioting on the streets . It was mostly left to the Keystone cops of the Tourist Police to strut around Walking Street closing bars , what a thrill it must have been to be able to play pretend soldiers as well as pretend police . What a shambles bound to be great for future tourism .
